I was going to ask JAG on my base, but thought I'd ask here too. To own land in the Philippines you need to be a Citizen or born there. Even businesses you need 52% Filipino stock/ownership majority. I became a Naturalized Citizen so I could serve more than the allotted 8 years for Permanent Resident, but my parents are getting older and need to maintain my ancestral land in the family. Does anyone know how this works? Thank you for any information you can provide.

You cannot get a clearance with dual citizenship. You have to renounce your other, non- US citizenship to process the SF86.

If you already have a clearance and become a dual citizen, you're likely to lose the clearance once it's reported to DOD CAF.

Also this isn't really a JAG question. Clearances are in the S2/security manager realm. If you are read on to SCI, that's also the SSO realm.

SFC (Join to see) awesome. Good to know. I'll ask my Security Clearance personnel on base. Thank you for the heads up SFC Fuerhoff.

I had a thought it might be like that but at least I retrieved my birth certificate back home. Do you know off hand once, you retire, I can get dual citizenship?

MSgt (Join to see) - The only time dual citizenship matters is when you need or have a security clearance. Other than that - plenty of Americans have dual citizenship even in the military. The only time you have to renounce it is for a clearance for obvious reasons.

Unfortunately, You cannot owe allegiance to a second country and hold a security clearance, Dual citizenship establishes this conflict of interest. When my medical condition was going to determine that I would be separated, I informed my S-2 that I would be applying for dual citizenship in Italy, and would be terminating my clearance. You are going to have to make a choice.
