Do I have to update my ERB to get my dd 214. Or is it only on my own volition to get the awards I received on my record? Or is it just so they record the right rank I get out as?

You'll get your DD214 no matter what. You may want those awards on your 214 in case you ever rejoin or go into the NG or USAR. Of course, you may be thinking that you have no intention of ever rejoining, but neither did the tens of thousands of prior service who rejoined either.

SPC (Join to see) Trust, but validate! Your personal attention to the detail of your
records has to be better than someone else’s lack of attention to those details!

They can use it but keep in mind the DD214 is really a reference document and not a source document. You can't really use the DD214 as a document to validate an award. You have to have the original award still. The DD214 is really just a statement of your service. I would bring any copies of anything you have to make sure you get it added. People usually have their "I Love Me" book with all of their awards. Your ERB can be out of date and if you bring your original documents for your awards you will have them added to your DD214.

SPC (Join to see) - The only way it reflects is if you have a medical conditions that would alter your RE code. Your ERB should only show your PULHES and nothing else medical.

CPT (Join to see) ahhh thank you so much! I’m relieved now. Getting out of the army has been more stressful than all fields and deployments because no one tells you anything. So I appreciate the support. 3 more duty days and I’m free!

SPC (Join to see) - No worries. I got out twice. Then I joined back every time but the third time is the charm. I am going to retire at this point. The next time I get out I am staying out.
