I have less then two years left in the Army before I retire and have already scheduled some of my SFLTAP classes I need. The one thing I am not sure of or have not heard about is what I actually need to do to drop my packet to retire. What does that actually entail?

You go to your S1 for their example retirement packet. You want to do this about 18 months out to account for the 14 times your packet will get kicked back. The earliest your completed packet can be accepted by HRC is 12 months out. Your retirement day is the last day of the month. If that month is February that means the earliest they can accept your packet is the first day of March

Thank you. Since I plan to take about 60 days of leave I’ll go see them next week for any examples they have.

Submit your retirement packet one year prior to date of desired retirement. Make sure that you get your medical physical. complete
If you have family, make sure they are current in DEERS.
