How do I get a 68V class date through retention? Do I have to wait until my reenlistment window opens?

I had a question that hopefully someone can help me with? I got accepted to respiratory therapy school (68V). Within the acceptance letter I was told to go to retention to get a class date, when I did he said I had to wait for my window to open up. Does have any insight into this?
