Is it ok to keep an NCO from basic military duties just because they're on profile?

I've personally witnessed NCOs being denied basic duties. IE grading pt tests and high visibility supervisory positions just because they on profile. Not to sound petty but is this worth an ig complaint?

It is a bit of a touchy subject, and it depends on what the NCO is on profile for. If the NCO just had eye surgery or something, I can understand not letting them grade a PT test. If the NCO has been on profile for a prolonged period of time (6+ months with no signs they even care to get off) then I can understand too.
If the NCO has a permanent profile for a legitimate injury but is consistently doing what he/she can heal, get better, etc., then there is no excuse for 'shunning' that NCO.

However, if I was the NCO in this situation, I would request to speak with the senior leadership, address your concerns and ask if there is a legitimate reason why such events are transpiring. Oftentimes such events can be fixed with a simple conversation, as opposed to jumping to an IG complaint.

IG complaints must be based upon someone in the chain of command violating an Army regulation, policy, procedure, etc.
Calling IG because you got your feelings hurt will only waste the time of all concerned. Those types of duties are within the purview of the 1SG or Commander. There is no regulation that I am aware of that specifies otherwise. Being on profile is NOT a "protected class."

Just curious. I'd never go to ig about it but it seems to be restricting professional grown for some leaders. If that makes sense

I've been on a Permanent Profile since 2010, and that has not kept me from leadership positions, or positions of responsibility.
I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, but I think leaders put people whom they trust and have confidence into positions they want/need to be done right the first time. I've been told that I was being given a responsibility because the 1SG had more confidence in me than in another SSG. I've been a Team Leader, and am currently a Section Sergeant.
So show your leadership that your profile doesn't keep you from being a top-notch leader, and your profile won't be the first/only thing your superiors see.

I am in the same boat, SSG Unger. P2 since November 2010 and consistently showing my senior leadership I am just as, if not more, capable than my peers.
