If you did, what is the standard protocol for doing this? Any constructive input is greatly appreciated!

A blind resume is the WORST way to find a job! Seriously. Please get out and network instead.

It's a little hard to network in a career field where you don't have any direct non-military connection to. I was/am a Public Affairs Officer, but never had access to those folks until too late in my career. Plus, they have no understanding of what we do in the military (it is so much more than you are thinking), so when I translate all my experiences and accomplishments into civilian lingo, they still don't call. It was a frustrating process getting out to try and network, especially from half a country away. I have landed a job, but it certainly wasn't where or doing what I expected. Thanks for the recommendation though!

Fair enough - I haven't walked in your shoes. That said, I am guessing you had family members or friends who weren't in the military that knew other civilians? And with the technology we have today, networking can be done from anywhere in the world.

I got job in Orlando by calling my former battalion commander from Fort Ord. Ltg Ronald V. Hits. Former head of acquisition. His former exex was Paul Izzo. Now a retired two star. Had a good job in one day. This was 1994.
