After combing through AR 600-8-22, I discovered that myself and several others from my state were eligible for the Humanitarian Service Ribbon. We participated in Operation Centennial Raging Waters and received emergency service ribbons for it in 2013 . After looking into some regulations on other awards for COVID, I found Table C-1 (Army approved Humanitarian Service Medals operations). On table C-1, Operation Centennial Raging Waters is on the approved list and we were there during the inclusive dates. I brought this up to several unit admins and even some S1 staff in my battalion but no one really seems to know a process for this.

I was wondering if anyone knew a process to action this award or if there is a form or if it is as easy as a memo with supporting documentation to get this award in IPERMs/IPPS-A?

You should probably talk to your chain of command and talk to your battalion's senior admin NCO. Make sure you get documentation your participated in that operation as it will be required at some point the process.

Do you have orders or an award memo that shows the unit that were eligible for the Humanitarian award. That and regulation that shows your operation met the criteria to get it is all you need.

I have the orders for the mission. Not for the award. Is it as easy as having a commander write an award memo?
Our unit was the first to respond to this natural disaster but it seems that no one knew about this award eligibility.
