I know what the rules are and I also know that it changes at MEPS. Anyone have knowledge that has recently gone to MEPS in the last 2 months as to what has been available? I can literally do any job in the Army, just curious as to what MOS’s are truly in need.

What's available is what has unfilled class seats, and that changes every single day.

Wasn’t tracking the unfilled seats but I did know it constantly changes. Guess I was wondering if there has been a recent trend in certain MOS’s lately with those unfilled seats, like you mentioned. Thank you.

SGT (Join to see) class seats are a finite resource, they change as they are filled and others are opened

I'm on recruiting duty right now and the Army has a current list of like 11 MOS's that are a must fill at this moment. I don't remember them all off the top of my head but some of them are something like 14P, 13M, 13J, 92R, PsyOps, 11X, 18X.

SSG Clint Underhill I was curious if you are still on recruiting duty? I’m currently one signature away from my 368 and still curious if the MOS’s you listed above are still some of the most common MOS’s that are popping up at MEPS for the needs of the Army. Thank you I’m advance.

As a Reservist, my best tool is the vacancies you can look up through your HRC profile

But, the ENTIRE LIST of USAR vacancies can bee seen weekly via:

Then it's only a matter of sorting by your area of interest
So yea, those links will get to to the information how many USAR vacancies by MOS/RANK, and where they are located by unit and state. If you are lucky, they will have contact information.

Then to take it a step further, and check up on the unit before you even speak to anyone you can pull the UIC MTOE and METL data from FMSWEB.

From there you can deduce a lot.
1) OPTEMPO (i can tell you, any unit with a lot of equipment and soldiers is high OPTEMPO)
2) Probability of deployments (based on mission capabilities)
3) MTOE - vacancy positions = manning needs (are you stepping into a unit where you will be expected to pull more than the average SGT).
4) With the vacancy line and Position # you see where you fall in on the chain of command and how many soldiers you should have, or even if their positions are vacant as well.

Use all this information to compile a more complete picture before you go stepping into something you can't easily get out of.

My experience in life (in general) is that jobs with many openings or high bonus incentives are the ones that are either very hard to find smart and skilled people to fill those roles, or the jobs suck and no one wants it. In the grander scheme of things the army really isn't looking for rocket scientists, and the USAR isn't trying to fill Special Forces quality vacancies.

Some low skilled HAZMAT techs can make more than Doctors. Why is that??? Follow that logic with the military and you should be OK. Just be sure you know what you are getting into.
