Is the schützenschnur worn on tropical ASU?

I have received my schützenschnur and it is uploaded into my iperms. I got the special buttons sewn onto my ASU coat. If I were to wear only the short sleeve shirt would the buttons need to be sewn onto that too or is it only meant to be worn on the ASU coat
