No, you are placed onto your assignment by Drill Branch at the time they give you your Drill class date

You can always ask for a change in assignment or see if someone in school will swap assignments with you. I was assigned to Jackson and changed back to Benning for Armor school and it was an easy swap I did while at the school house.

SSG Anthony Shuta you can, but with the new enlisted marketplace most assignments are determined by the computer model, not the branch manager, and they are much harder to swap without a valid reason
