I have been trying to find a slot in the US army Reserve Amedd direct commission unit In NY, NJ, CT , PA but have had no luck. I have been attempting to find slots for HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (70B) as I think I would best fit there. I have a Bachelors in police studies, A master's degree in Urban affairs, and a master's degree in public administration. I have no prior military experience but did work two years in law enforcement. I am also interested in the MOS listed below.
HEALTH SERVICES COMPTROLLER (70C)
HEALTH SERVICES SYSTEM MANAGEMENT (70D)
PATIENT ADMINISTRATION (70E)
HEALTH SERVICES HUMAN RESOURCES (70F)
HEALTH SERVICES PLANS, OPERATIONS, INTELLIGENCE, SECURITY, AND TRAINING (70H)
HEALTH SERVICES MATERIEL (70K)
What are my chances of finding a slot and when do new slots become available?

70B slots are not easy to come by as anyone with a college degree who is current enlisted can apply for 70B in AMEDD and many soldiers want to come to AMEDD. You need to speak with an AMEDD recruiter in your state to find out more specifics. It’s almost the beginning of the next fiscal year in October so they might have some slots open up.

I checked with my former AMEDD recruiter recently and was told that for COMPO 2 and 3, the only way to get a direct commission as a 70B is to go through USMA, ROTC, or OCS. Due to shift to DHA and 70B currently at or slightly over strength, AMEDD is no longer accepting direct commissions for 70B. Also, 70A/70C/...70K are all AOC that are options for a 70B after meeting certain PME requirements.

I would definitely look into PA Guard. We have multiple medical aviation units and are desperately looking for medical staff. Also you’ll get a lot of education benefits.

I reached out to PA Reserves AMEDD officer just no current slots for direct commission for 70B or any 70 series. Is there a PA Guard AMEDD contact ??

Jay Rub call the nearest guard recruiter and tell them your situation. They should give you the officer position for the state that will tel you what is and is not available.

Unless you have a Baccalaureate or Master's in Health Sciences, Public Health, or Logistics, you won't be getting into any of those AOCs. IF you had a background in one of those areas they would have taken that into consideration. This will be very difficult to impossible for you with your background. But as SFC Livingston recommended, you need to contact an AMEDD Recruiter to get the correct answers. AMEDD is a stickler about having the right background and credentials to fill openings in these areas. You may want to try Military Police or Intel with the background you have.

I have contacted multiple Amedd recruiters only. I was told that the mission for this year does not include a budget for 70B or any 70 series and some have said they haven't hired in two years.

I don't see them hiring anytime soon. AMEDD is going through a lot of changes and until they figure it out, they probably won't hire. Plus it's the end of the fiscal year, you'll have to wait til 2021.

Have you spoken with an AMEDD Recruiter? As for slots, while you would prefer a unit in those States, you may not get those states if/when you direct commission. You would be slotted in a unit that has an open slot and needs what ever AOC you end up with.

Yes I have spoken with about 7 different ones. I have been told currently the Army does not have any slots for 70B. I got the NJ national guard checking to see if they can find space as well. Is there any way I can get a general army reserve inquire? They usually send me to my local state Amedd recruiters.

Jay Rub if they're saying there are no vacancies, it's probably because it's the end of the FY. You'll want to begin the direct commission process with an AMEDD recruiter for FY21. Any AMEDD recruiter should be able to help you start the process and it is lengthy. Unfortunately, AMEDD isn't handled by normal army recruiters

Jay Rub you can apply now, just let your recruiter know your application is for the FY21 Openings. They may push you off for a week weeks as they recruit for all medical AOCs and some do have openings year round. Traditionally, 70 series AOCs (the ones you listed out) all come from the 70B position.
