Good evening everyone , I i’ve been excepted in the med board process and was giving an option to pick ides or Ldes And I chose LDS for multiple reasons being the discharge that I’m getting is for a birth defect in the army does not clean birth defects as a rating or service relatable so my question is has anyone done the LDS process and how long did it take you

Keep in mind that even if you have a birth defect, if it was made worse or caused other medical issues while you are on active duty, it could still be covered by VA. My suggestion is to don't rush it just to get out.

Did your PEBLO tell you to accept the Legacy disability? My wife was a PEBLO for years and I remember her strongly telling me that nobody ever should choose the LDS, but that every once in a while someone would do something stupid like think they're smarter than their PEBLO.

To answer your question, it takes as long as it takes with how backed up they may be at the time and how many things you claim. Expect to be done in six months or less.
