I have 4 years of active duty and about 3 years in the reserves. Would I be able to put in a packet for officer? I read online that the requirements are being a sergeant and having 5 years of service. Not sure if reserve time counts.

When you look at time in service requirements, if you are in the Reserve Component then it refers to your PEBD. If you are Active Component it refers to your BASD.

When I was looking at going down the WO officer path as a 35F SGT to 350F it was actually easier to direct commission into Quartermaster. I needed more NCO time in my MOS.

Each branch is going to have it's own little nuances for selection. The biggest one I see for you is I presume they are going to want at least 2 NCOER's with your packet.

You absolutely need to get under the wing of your MOS WO's and you're going to need a CW3 letter of recommendation anyway. Start now.

The best chance I see for success for going down any path of fficer or WO, some new branch or highly sought after specialization is laying the ground work now. Figure out what is needed and line your ducks up. It's much more painful using failed application after failed application to be your learning process.

SPC Onel Cruz - In a sense, yes, Non Commissioned Officer Evaluation Report. SGT's and up get an annual performance evaluation every year that documents their performance by their Immediate Rater and Sr Rater.

So basically, it's an indirect long winded way of saying you need to get promoted to SGT, then complete two years as a SGT with a documented NCOER in your iPerms.

I don't know a pathway to WO from SPC (unless via the flight program).

I do know that my pathway to WO for 35F entailed 2 years as an NCO, and having served two mission sets as an intel analyst. So in reality, basically at least 3 or so calendar years and be on extended orders/missions twice.

It's why you need to befriend a WO mentor, and learn your MOS's WO process.

Oh, you are probably going to owe the USAR a brand new 8 year commitment.
