Will the Army succumb to social pressure and change Ranger school standards?

The standards should be the same across the board. There are many males soldiers that can't meet the standards.

Totally agree - there are a lot of male soldiers that aren't meeting the minimum standards on the APFT as well.

Sir I'm sorry but I disagree to the fullest. The males that do not meet the standard are the ones we push off to the side; specifically in Ranger School. I will drink the kool aid as needed but it will take a very strong argument to truly convince myself and so many others that all MOSs were created equal. This means that the combat arms fields (and their specops counterparts) should NOT be unique in a way of possessing the best trained in kinetic action, in the dirtiest environments, all while being just a little bit crazy!
As for our severe male underachievers in the combat arms, we can, and have been sending them home if they are unable to carry [at least] their share of the load. I understand that this is a fast moving and unstoppable train, so if/when the time comes--I will fully support the change. Please don't see me as a total naysayer. r/

Hey CSM Eric Olsen that is the nice thing about RP. You can voice your opinion my friend. There are good arguments for and against. I personally believe that if anyone can meet the standards set in place now then they should be given the opportunity whether they are female or male, but there has to be one tough standard for Ranger School that needs to be followed. There should never be two sets of standards for those types of schools. I welcome all the comments and good, bad, or ugly!

I would really like to know which standards we are talking about? There isn't a female standard for leadership. Do people really think RIs will grade women on patrols less strictly? Squad-mates won't put up with a women not carrying her share of the load. You carry your own food, clothes, sleep gear, combat gear, and you share the squad's load of skedco, AT4, radios, ammunition, and crew-served weapons. I nearly went the entire course without carrying the 240.
Are we worried about women not being required to do 42 pushups? What an irrelevant measure of strength. Better tests of the physical abilities required for success in Ranger School (and combat) are the 12 mile road march and the Darby Queen. Eight female Candidates, nearly half of all women to attend the course, passed both of those standards.
We will be better as an Army and a military when we stop hoping for our teammates' failure.
