Even though its up to the commander to decide the leave,
my 1st sgt has set a rule that, "If you are in the process of medboard, you will not go on leave".
Currently I'm in a process of medboard and my PEBBLO have told me that if I want to go on leave, now is the best time to go since I'm just sitting here waiting for percentage to kick back.

There is no physical appointment I have left until next few months of when I get my percentage from the board.
However, my 1st sgt still don't want to let me go on leave regardless...

I'm done with all my SFLTAP and capstone.
As soon as I get my percentage back from the board and accept it, all I got left is clearing out right away.
Even though they will allow me to sell my leave, its only up to 60 days I can sell.
The rest 20+ days I got will be wasted.

Also my father is in medical condition so I want to go and pay him a visit, because I will be very busy once I'm out from the Army.

My Platoon Sgt is trying to convince 1st Sgt about my situation and even told him that I could go about this time, since there will be no appointments for the next few months until I get my percentage.

He still doesn't want to let me go on leave.
Is there is way I can go on leave?

1SGs don't approve or disapprove leave, commanders do. Walk in to talk to your Commander. If that doesn't work, use your CSM and Battalion Commander open door policy.

As for your planning, once you receive your ratings you'll receive an ETS date that is about 90 days away. That's your time to clear and take terminal leave. You can actually take 60 or more days of terminal leave and sell 10-20 days if you choose.

Your 1SG has nothing to do with approving or denying leave - unless he is your supervisor and has to sign as such. Otherwise, it's up to the commander to approve or deny. I'd be using the commander's open door policy especially after my PSG was involved.

I am going through similar. 1SG had an LT in my section try to convince me to sell 20 days since they will "need" me in rear D while the unit is at NTC during my ETS start date. I have 80 days earned since other leave requests had been denied thought the year. I went to IG, they said if it is not pushed up to the proper approving authority, that is a no no and if it is denied by the approving authority they need to indicate their reason. I am now 8 weeks out from Etsing and my new packet requesting the full 80 days( since 1SG and Commander didn't want to approve the broken 59 day, 1 day break, and separate 20 day leave request. They said all I needed was a ETS award and it would be good to go but once that was submit they said not so worry about the packet because there is time to send it up BN and BDE commanders. Something sounds fishy and I wouldn't be surprised if they were playing poker with me and my future just to get me to sell back 20. It's bullshit. Go to IG if they aren't doing the right thing and abusing their authority.
