Currently on rehab status for a torn MCL and two fractures (all in my right leg) but as soon as my injury is healed am I able to request for a combat deployment? Have a feeling with everything going on that we will head back to Afghanistan eventually.

No, not in the Regular Army. Units deploy, not Soldiers. In the USAR and ARNG you can join deploying units. But in the AD Army, you're either in a unit that is deploying or you are not.
We are not likely going back to Afghanistan. ISIS isn't strong enough to overthrow the Taliban and the Taliban aren't overtly aggressive toward us, and we don't have the stomach to try to overthrow the Taliban to prop up the previous Afghani government - again.

SFC (Join to see) - They are never asking for Junior Enlisted Combat Arms. About half the listings I've seen are officers, the rest are Senior Enlisted, Commo and MI.

Can you? Sure. Request all you want. Will your request(s) be granted? Probably not. Don't worry. Stay in long enough and you'll do a combat tour somewhere.

PFC (Join to see) - Combat tours are not all that is cracked up to be, regardless of the mission you would have there. And honestly, a tour of service can still count for something even without a combat tour.

PFC (Join to see) - For Active Duty, it is rare for an individual to deploy and meet up with a unit already deployed. For Reserve and Guard, we can deploy as individuals. But, the deployments are literally what is available vs what is needed (rank and MOS/AOC). As a Reservist, I deployed with my organic unit to Iraq in 2010. There was no option in that. In 2018, I was offered and accepted a chance to deploy with a uit to Honduras. Just recently, I got back from a deployment (as a backfill) to Kuwait and Saudi. Rarely....if ever...are Active Duty folks allowed to pick and choose what deployment they get/want. You're assigned to a unit. The unit gets marching orders to deploy to where ever. You are either going to be on that roster or you won't be. And if you're not, then you'll be in the unit in the Rear Detachment.
