For once, an easy question:
1. APFU, include sustainable reflective material and do away with belts and vests that do the same thing. (I know that nobody else has ever thought of that!!!)
2. ASU, none.
3. ACU, put in trash can and bring back BDU's. HOOAH!!!

SSG Joseph VanDyck - SSG VanDyck,
That is only fractionally true. The cut is only one of several parts in the chosen design of the ACU. The pattern of the Camouflage, the cut, the swap of the buttons to hook and pile tape, the removal of buttons for pull fastener (Zipper), addition of pockets on sleeves, lower leg and diagonal chest closures were included. Only a few of these were valuable and the rest were just "good idea" fairy implementations that were removed with the OCP. Frankly speaking, the ACU was like Windows Vista and Windows 8. An attempt at a good concept that was a real colossal failure that was later improved to the real thing. The OCP is where the ACU should have been since 2004.

CW4 John Beebe, BS, DML - Isn't the current Army field uniform still called the ACU for Army Combat Uniform but is now in OCP or Operation Camouflage Pattern? To the best of my knowledge, the ACU isn't camo pattern specific and if all of a sudden the Army decided to adopt it in the woodland camo used on the old BDUs it would still be called the ACU.

Cpl Hsueh,
You are correct as far as the current uniform being the ACU with the former pattern being the UCP (Universal Camouflage Pattern) and the current one is the OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern). There have been few modifications in the transition from the BDU to the ACU. They are what us "Old Soldier's" are scoffing at. The idea of scrapping the ACU and going back to the BDU is still popular with us as the "improvements" on the ACU have not really made it more functional but rather more maintenance intensive and reduced the life cycle of the uniform. If I was to come back in and given the opportunity to pick any uniform I wanted, it would be the Woodland Camouflage BDU any day. It would be unfortunate to lose the pocket on my leg at the calf but the rest could go. We (the Army) wasted nearly 12 years on a bad experiment that the USMC had already gone through and proven before they invested major money on. We (the Army) somehow thought it would be very different for us and had to prove it to ourselves and then drag it on for 12 years.

SFC Sean Berryman - The grey ones did but that apparently was not good enough. I nearly concede that to the CSM's as I have had a hard time with finding people in the early morning until right on top of them. I would like to stop seeing new uniforms come out that are not up to the demand of safety, wear and comfort. I am pretty pleased with the new PT's but still there is a demand from leadership to keep adding vests or belts for reflective visibility.

IPFU - go back to the old material on the shorts and shirt. Don't care what color. Shorts feel like wearing plastic and the shirt always smells even if you haven't done PT yet.

ASU - keep the bus driver cap, lose the "everyone is special" beret.

ACUS - let 4 badges be sewn on two stacked, two side by side. It looks ridiculous the way it is now. Especially with a CIB or CAB next to a class 4 badge (not to mention the class 1 badge is under the lapel). I still see CSMs in their official command photos with it wrong instead of the 2 X 2. It just looks more professional.

Go to Multicam, they are breathable unlike ACUS, keep the beret for ASUS and definitely change PT's to some other material

You do realize that Multicam simply a camouflage pattern and not a uniform or even material specific? An ACU printed in Multicam/OCP is going to be no more breathable than an ACU printed in UCP, it's the material that ACU is made from that makes a difference. Unfortunately for those who dislike the ACU, last I heard the Army isn't doing away with the ACU or making any radical changes aside from changing the camo pattern from UCP to OCP. To the best of my knowledge they're still going to be making them from the same material as they have been as well as keeping the zippers and all that velcro.

Is the Forest Green uniform out? If not, I would take it out. I have always HATED it. Army uniforms looked ever so much more dignified and classy when they were the old WWI/WWII Olive Drab. Just my 2 cents from a Navy guy (whose dad is a Battle of the Bulge vet and Silver Star recipient).
