Are there any fields that specifically deal with and teach SolidWorks software? Our company is looking to hire someone who is proficient with the program and we want to give veterans first shot at it.

SolidWorks for machining? Maybe 91E Allied Trades Specialist. For the Navy, a Machinist Mate rating. You just have to list SolidWorks as a job requirement in the announcement. You’ll likely get a veteran who went back to school for a machining Related associates degree.

You are talking a CAD system. The military working, depending on the branch, with different CAD systems. I you are qualified in a CAD system, converting you experience to SolidWorks should be rather simple.
