No, they don't work. The Local Nationals don't trust us they second guess us and flat out don't seem to care. They are much happier when fighting themselves and living in the past.

Yes. I think everyone is quick to link Iraq and Afghanistan, both horrible to train, with the whole of the middle east. Think of places where we do have good relationships like Saudi and Egypt. These places build legitimacy that we are not trying to take over the heart of the east but more just trying to stabilize the region.

There are a lot of good answers both ways. But I think the real questions is:

Do you want to fight terrorists on their soil or on ours?

If they'd stick to the sandbox and kill eachother, that would be an acceptable outcome. But they won't. If we don't go there and fight them, then another 911 is just a matter of time.
