I found a job I had a decent shot at over in Germany. The company said I was disqualified for consideration as I didn’t have a SOFA sponsorship. Everything I’ve seen online leads me to believe the contracting company ought to be the ones to get me sponsorship should I be hired. I’m not DoD and I don’t have a spouse over there. Just a Vet trying to land a job abroad. Am I missing something about how to obtain a SOFA sponsorship?

What is the SOFA agreement in Germany? The SOFA provides the basis for the legal status of military, U.S. civilian employees and dependents living in Germany on orders.

It is not unusual to have jobs only open to people currently living in the country.

What I am finding on Google states you would need a SOFA stamp in your passport and a SOFA certificate. What I found said "to obtain a SOFA stamp, you should visit a U.S. military passport agent or office."
