What do I need to do to resolve being stationed away from my spouse now that we are on the MACP?

My Husband and I joined the military together. During OSUT and AIT our leaders would not submit our MACP 4187(October). We fought and fought each day and they made up excuses and pushed it off. When I got Orders(December) for Germany it stated single, and unaccompanied. I told my leader ship that my orders needed be changed because of this error and they said it will change on its own. When I got to my duty station( December) they said that I would not be here long because of this situation, and I'd more than likely be sent back to the states. Our MACP just got approved yesterday( April 2022). We would like to get assigned together but the whole thing is a mess and we are unsure of what to do now that it went through after 6 Months. He is CONUS and I am OCONUS right now. My MOS is medical, and he is Infantry. Does anyone have some advise?

First, I would recommend you double check with your S1...and tell your spouse to do the same....that DEERS has you listed as married (That's why I'm thinking your Orders had you down for Single Unaccompanied). If it is not, ensure you provide a copy of your marriage cert. As for being sent back to the States....yea...that may or may not happen, so don't count those eggs yet. Another thing you have to understand is that you both may have to wait until PCS time to get assigned together, or one of you meets TOS requirements and submits a 4187 for reassignment. Also, you have to understand that being enrolled in MACP does not guarantee being assigned at the same base. The Army will try to accommodate joint assignment...but that may not always happen.

You will not be restationed together. MACP only applies for your next duty assignment. One of you is going to have to request a permissive MACP reassignment and pay out of pocket to move to the others location.
I advise you both to contact your branch managers and explain, very clearly, that you were married when you joined the Army, as opposed to two idiots who got married in AIT, which is usually what they hear. The branch chief of one of your branches may be willing to fight for a waiver for moving one of you. Your move would be harder because you're overseas and it would require a curtailment. If that doesn't work, submit a compassionate reassignment. This isn't really a compassionate reassignment area, but your situation is unique and lately they've been approving any and every compassionate reassignment that commanders endorse.
If all that fails, one of you will need to submit a permissive MACP reassignment, and you'll be required to pay for your own move.
