A recently-released global survey of 40 countries by the Pew Research Center finds that large numbers of people have a favorable opinion of the United States, its economy and the US-led fight against the Islamic State.

Overall, the US is largely seen in a positive light, with a global median of 69% of people saying they viewed the US favorably. That's up from 65% in 2013 and 2014, says Pew.

And yet people scoff when I've this same thing in the past. The US *IS* being viewed more favorably around the world now than it was at the beginning of this century. The US is respected more and feared less. To me, THAT is progress worth continuing. We are on the cusp of an emerging world-market and world-centric (as opposed to nation-centric) society and we cannot continue to hold on to nationalistic ideals forever if we wish to be a part of that society. We can either adapt or be left behind as many past nations and peoples have discovered.

I wonder if they are glad we are fighting the wars instead of them.

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad I'd like to see a global map of the respondents locations. I think it depends on who you are asking. Not to be the pessimist here but I feel it would definitely bear weight on the results.
