Sons of Confederate Veterans has organizations across the southern states. Members pay extra to the states for the special license plates. But now Virginia has decided to remove the confederate flag from that plate. I can understand and agree with removing confederate flags from statehouses, but I wonder if this isgoing too far. This seems to be tampering with a legal organization's logo. It isn't just a random flag. What do you think?

I live in New York and it's none of my business what they want I to do in Virginia.

ALCON,

The flag is not a hate symbol but heritage.... to some. For others it is a symbol of an oppressive system from a bygone era. Let these individuals have their flags. Freedom of expression. The Klan used to put up a cross down town at the fountain square where I am from for Christmas and I really did not care. It was only when I had gotten older that I truly understood and learned what that was about. I used to watch Dukes of Hazard and had thought that the Confederate Flag was the coolest flag ever because of the car; until again I had learned what it was really about. But again in conclusion let the flags stay and keep Fort Bragg ...Fort Bragg.

CH (MAJ) William Beaver Don't you love it when politicians make knee jerk reactions when something comes up across the news airwaves. It didn't seem to bother the state of Virginia before, why now.

Sir, last week the Supreme Court ruled that States may remove confederate flags. But to me, this dishonors veterans. They were confederate veterans but they were OUR confederate veterans. Don't change the SCV's logo. I can't stand white supremists, but I am serving in the Army to defend their rights to peacably gather and to display their confederate and (sigh) nazi flags. I don't want a police state.

And I do not equate SCV with white supremists. I should have clarified that

CH (MAJ) William Beaver I agree that we shouldn't make political moves against anything that has something to do with our history and veterans. Whether we have relatives that were on the Union side or on the Confederate side they were Americans and they fought for their beliefs. I'm tired of the media coverage on the Confederate Flag because of the crime committed by deranged individual - get back to the reason. The flag didn't make him do it - we wouldn't start burning or removing the American Flag when other criminals have committed these types of acts.
