President Johnson appeals to the United nations to persuade North Vietnam to negotiate a peace.

Two Viet Cong terrorist bombs rip through a floating restaurant on the Saigon River.
Thirty-one people, including nine Americans, were killed in the explosions.
Dozens of other diners were wounded, including 11 Americans.

Home from Nam for 5 years already, wondering why we were still engaged. Thought we got ‘em all while I was there. Someone must have screwed-up.

I find it interesting that Kennedy and LBJ escalated the number of troops engaged before the 1968 convention and the massive shift of the Dem party to the left.
