I think it’s rediculous to not allow a SM to complete high hour courses because they don’t fall within the MOS requirements. Is there a way to bypass the MOS so my soldiers can max out on their course hours? We tried to do it when you register and to change the MOS to the required one, but it keeps saying denied. Also, yes I mentioned Skillport and JKO courses.

SSG (Join to see), First I applaud your efforts to maximize your Soldiers' development. However, there are so many options for continuing education in correspondence courses that I have to wonder why you are going after courses the Soldier is not eligible to take. The 50-meter targets should be the common classes, then SKL 1 refreshers for the MOS they do have, then move on to JKO. By the time they get there, they should be maxed out without having to take rocketship door gun repair.

Self Development programs should increase needed skillsets and round out a Soldiers' progression in their currently assigned MOS. We should not be throwing out high credit hour counts just for points. I can imagine that conversation gets hard to have with a young Soldier who has better things to do with their time and devalues the courses they do take as "check the box".
