It's 2022. I remember when I came back from Iraq I spoke to some 5th graders and they had no idea where Iraq was or who Saddam was. Then I realized they were all born in 2000 or 2001; they had no context to what we were doing there and it was a sad realization for me. In 2021 when we pulled out of Afghanistan, there were troops there who were born AFTER 9/11. Their concept of why we were there was completely different than those who lived through, or even enlisted because of, 9/11.

How do we teach people to "never forget?"
