What is the likelihood of being able to volunteer for Airborne at CAV SCOUT OSUT?

I am shipping to Cav Scout OSUT 11 OCT and was unable to get Airborne in my contract. My recruiter told me they always ask for volunteers at AIT, however, I wanted to see about other people’s recent experience with their ability to volunteer for Airborne at AIT and how/when they went about it to secure. Thank you.

At the Combat Arms OSUTs, especially at Benning where Airborne school is held, they almost always send recruiters to each class to ask for Airborne volunteers.
If you're not able to go from OSUT, you cannot ask your command to send you, as another person responded. You must be assigned to an Airborne unit for your unit to be authorized to send you. But, you can reenlist for a class seat at airborne school once you are near the end of your first contract.

This would probably be need based on available seats and your timeframe of AIT. Everything is based on the needs of the Army. Good luck!
