Can anyone know the required time does it take an ETP to be approved through G1, DCS and HRC for ADOS? If know things are slow. The ADOS unit informed me that they’re waiting for ETP. Tour of Duty stated it has been uploaded and waiting for next level.

However, HRC seems to take its time. Process is strange.

The standard answer with the military bureaucracy that doesn't have a regulatory or statutory timeline -- it takes as long as it takes.

It SHOULD only take a few days for processing, but SHOULD and DOES are two widely different things at HQDA.

The GUIDELINES are that ETPs going to the G1 should be submitted at least 30 days before the requested start date (some other ETPs could take as long as 90+ days).

I assume that your ETP is to allow you to reach over 18 years AFS while on ADOS. If that's the case, they are determining if they need you enough to approve someone qualifying for a full AD retirement, which can be a big investment, depending on how old you are.

They actually changed it a few years ago. Now you need an ETP if you're going to go over 17 years AFS while on orders.

COL Randall C. that makes sense since the RC was so, so very bad about tracking Soldiers RPAMs before GWOT started. There's so many times I've seen periods of service missing on a retirement points worksheet I can't even count. I just helped out a LTC who transitions told he was two months shy of 20 years before he he turned 60. Turns out, he already hit 20 years after some digging

If a LTC-COL gets on an ADOS tour, normally, they have over 17 years AFS. Therefore, G1 needs to adjust the rules for LTC-COL for ADOS. By the looks of this, it means that every senior officer (LTC-COL) going for an ADOS tour has to submit an ETP. G1 should waive that policy if units need to bring officers on an ADOS for those ranks.

Also, if an officer has over 18, therefore that policy for ETP should be removed if they’re close to 20. If they have over 20, I can see an ETP but close to ETP with the Army policy on Sanctuary is confusing.
