Does the reserves have a GI Bill? Will it pay for a spouse to go to college?

I am 34 years old and have been working Union since I got out of high school. I dont plan on going back to school for anything. Im joining the Reserves to scratch an itch and do something different every now and again. My wife has some education and if a GI Bill would pay for it, she could finish it without getting in debt.

Quick answer: Yes and No.

The reserve component does have Tuition Assistance and the G.I Bill*, but it isn't transferable to your spouse.

Gil Gonzalez - I would check out the certification, tuition assistance and scholarships then. A great place to start would be at Military OneSource* to see the various benefits your wife might be eligible for*

Note: You and your wife won't be eligible to access Military OneSource until you actually become a member of the reserve component, but you can always look to see what's available and talk to a counselor once you do.

Gil Gonzalez - Just keep in mind that most bonuses will be paid out over the length of the contract and not lump sum unless otherwise noted.
