When you retired, you had to reenroll* with TRICARE - it's not an automatic. You CAN still enroll anytime retroactively as long as you are within 12 months of your retirement date. If you ARE eligible to reenroll, you'll have to pay your enrollment fees back to your retirement date. After 12 months then you can only enroll during the annual open enrollment period.

If you're not familiar with the options available to you (Based on rank and years AD time, my SWAG is that you're younger than 65) are to go the Prime route or Select route. Check both of them out to determine which is best for you (and your family?).

Follow the links under "Health Plan Options" for whichever works for you the best.

SFC (Join to see) - Just a thought, could it be a problem caused by the Army’s new system IPPS-A?

Ippsa is screwed up true I didn’t get my retirement orders till the day my terminal leave started because if it .
But I believe it is more of government employees who With little or no experience with AGR retirement and Who believe DEERs is infallible and are used to turning people down every day and AGR retirement being kind of a rare birds they assume we are all just TPU and truly don’t understand the difference when this first happened I was very afraid I was going to hit a brick wall and I sure did I’m very worried also as for the fist time in a long time my family has no health insurance I am trying very hard not to be bitter because it will only make things worse and thank for your I do appreciate it

Once you retire and have your ID card updated as retired in DEERS it pretty much tiggers everything. Then you can reenroll in Tri-Care as a retiree. As COL Randall C. posted if your under 65 you have the choice of Prime or Select. Basically speaking Prime is a network based plan and Select is not. I would suggest reading the link Colonel Cudworth provided to give you the best understanding of your options.

You will also be able to enroll in BENEFEDS for dental and vision insurance programs.

SFC (Join to see) - Tri-Care will be no help I’ve experienced that myself. They base everything on DEERS.
