There are many .mil sites that contain all the information you're looking for, so instead of reposting it here, I'll point you in their direction (one tip I will give you is that you want to think of "Camp Walker" and "USAG Daegu" (U.S. Army Garrison Daegu) as terms often used interchangeably).
• Military OneSource's page on USAG Daegu - https://installations.militaryonesource.mil/in-depth-overview/usag-daegu - Lots of background and 'things you should know before coming here'
• USFK's official site - https://www.usfk.mil/ - This will basically give you anything and everything you wanted to know (or didn't want to know) regarding US Forces getting to, staying in, and leaving South Korea ** Make sure you look over this site, ESPECIALLY those listed under the 'resource' tab).
• 2ID "Newcomers: Before you depart for Korea" - https://www.2id.korea.army.mil/Newcomers/Before-You-Depart/ - While not specifically applicable to you, it also has a list of "before you come here, read this" items.
(Specific to your family and you traveling overseas unaccompanied, there are a lot of considerations you'll want to address before you depart.
• BAH Considerations and options for your family - https://www.pcsgrades.com/cms/blog/unaccompanied/
• Overview and things you should know - https://mymilitarybenefits.com/benefits/pcs-season-5-things-to-know-about-unaccompanied-tours/
• Cheap option for your family to come visit - https://www.poppinsmoke.com/space-a-flights/space-a-without-sponsor/
And of course, AR 55-46 (Travel Overseas) - https://armypubs.army.mil/epubs/DR_pubs/DR_a/ARN30921-AR_55-46-000-WEB-1.pdf
Regarding "tips for the area" (I assume that means 'touristy things to do while I'm there') you can easily find a lot of different sites regarding opinions on what the "must do" things are while you're there and 'things to know when off-base'.
