I am currently trying to transition from active duty as a 35G30 (Geospatial Intel) to the AGR. I submitted my application and was informed that I was added to the AGR Considerations List. Is there anything I can do to enhance my chances of securing a vacant spot withing a Guard or Reservist unit? Could anyone else share their experiences on transitioning to the AGR from the Active Army component?

To put it into something you're familiar with, think along the lines of "I've submitted my packet to the promotion board, is there anything I can do to enhance my chances of securing a promotion?" - No, there isn't. Everything happens on the front-side in putting your packet together.

You mentioned "Guard" and "Reserve" - did you put an application in for both? Assuming you didn't sit down with an Army National Guard recruiter, or someone else familiar with the process, I would hazard a guess that you only submitted an AGR application though HRC.

The USAR AGR list is boarded four times a year. The last one was scheduled to meet 5-9 June, and your packet would have been considered there if you had it submitted by 7 May. If not, then it will be in the next one that is scheduled for 11-15 September. You should be notified of the board results within 30 days of the board's recess in the "My Records" portal.

That board will only put you in for consideration for USAR AGR positions.
And USAR AGR is much like active component, you can be assigned anywhere in the USAR.
And if you get an offer from that board, it will likely require a reclass.

If your intent in going AGR was to stay in one area or state, you should apply to that state's Army National Guard.

One thing to understand about AGR: all of the jobs are readiness, training and supply at unit level, and S1, S3, S4 at BN, BDE and DIV level. Limited S2 positions are mostly about managing clearance issues, TALP and FOUNDRY.
There are few, if any at all, 35G specific AGR positions, and those would be a Readiness or Training NCO at unit level if they have a 35G position, or S3 at BN level in an MI BN if they have a 35G position etc.

One thing you can do right now to prepare yourself for AGR is decide where you want to live, and decide which MOSes that you would be willing to reclass to.
About 40% of all AGR positions (Guard and Reserve) are 42A, 92Y and recruiters.
The rest depend on what kinds of BNs are in that state or RRC.

I work in a state that has over 12,000 Soldiers in the Army Guard, and we have 9 total 35G E6-E7 positions across one of the MI BNs, a MICO and a DIV staff. None of them are AGR positions, but a couple could be used for AGR at the MICO and one BN.

Thank you for the insight SGM. Is there a website that I can view to see the openings in the Army Guard? And when it comes to applying, should I just apply using the information listed on the state’s NG webpage?

SSG (Join to see) - Most states have a means to advertise on their internet-facing page for AGR, GDOS and Counterdrug jobs. For example, the Cal Guard page looks like this:
https://calguard.ca.gov/cmd-jobs/
Most of the state sites show up pretty easy in a Google search.

All states are required to post their AGR openings and receive applicant packets on this site:

SSG (Join to see) - One thing to add to SGM (Join to see)'s comments. There are two sides of the ARNG AGR program - T10 AGR and T32
AGR. The T10 AGR works doing "Federal" things for NGB while the T32 is state-specific.

T10 AGR are stationed worldwide, although the plurality of positions are mostly in Northern Virginia (NGB Headquarters, Pentagon, etc). T32 positions will usually be within the borders of the state although there are occasional positions elsewhere.

All you can do now is wait for a response. Nothing you can do now to enhance your chances.
