You should look into the day to day responsibilities of an NCO in both fields. There is a great deal of difference. Ensure you are making a change for the right reasons. If you were an E5 I would not have made this statement. Since you are on the verge of making E7 I think it would be wise to reach out to an E7 in that specialty and have an open discussion so that you are well informed before making a leap at this point in your career.

Make sure this is something you want.

Ensure that you can reclass into that at your rank.

Remember that you will be behind the power curve regarding career progression with your newfound peers if you're able to reclass.

Otherwise, it's your career. You do what you need to do IOT excel and exceed.

Appreciate it. Verified today I can reclass due to having to go indef. I know it'll be a lot of work to catch up and learn what I need to know but this is what I want to do for the rest of my career
