So today I was doing some training for my civilian job and I read on the FEMA website courses completed can count towards your retirement points for reservists and the National Guard. However, the website states it varies from branch to branch. I am currently in the Army National Guard and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction if the Army accepts FEMA training or not for retirement points?

SGT (Join to see) I think you are looking for EBDL (Electronic Based Distributed Learning). NG policy may be different than Reserve, but your source info will come from HRC and your Command's EBDL Policy memo.

The Army cracked down on correspondence course for pay and points and most PACs will only process based on their local EBDL policy (which includes getting a Command directed approval memo to take the course). However, the following FEMA EMI courses are, in fact, on the list:

Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program
Animals in Disaster - Community Planning
Special Events Contingency Planning for Public Safety Agencies
Building Design for Homeland Security for Continuity of Operations
Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
Fundamentals of Emergency Management
Emergency Planning
Effective Communication
Developing and Managing Volunteers
Overview of FEMAs Environmental and Historic Preservation
Guide to Points of Distribution
Orientation to FEMA Logistics
Anticipating Hazardous Weather and Community Risk
Retrofitting Flood-Prone Residential Structures
Role of Voluntary Agencies in Emergency Management
Intro to Community Emergency Response Team
Mitigation Planning for Local and Tribal Communities
Community Hurricane Preparedness
Planning for the Needs of Children in Disasters
An Introduction to Hazardous Materials
Religious and Cultural Literacy and Competency in Disaster
Reconstitution Planning Course
Building Partnerships With Tribal Governments
National Incident Management System, An Introduction
Floodplain Management and Protection of Wetlands
EOC Management and Operations
Building for Earthquakes of Tomorrow
Fundamentals of Mgmt and Support Coord of Federal Disaster Ops
Public Assistance Program and Eligibility
The Public Assistance Delivery Model Orientation
The FEMA Site Inspection Process
Public Assistance Alternative Procedures
Documenting Disaster Damage and Developing Project Files
Detailed Damage Description and Dimensions
Roads and Culverts
Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) Considerations/Compliance for Public Assistance Grants
Basic Emergency Operations Center Functions
Public Information Officer Awareness

This would be good to know as I have already retired. All I see on my report is time served for training IE Drill, AT, Deployments. Where is this found Sergeant Major? I might be able to get this corrected as have Taken the Hazmat awareness, 100-200-700-800 and other courses for FEMA Region IV CASE Response.

SGT Bryon Sergent - To get credit for FEMA, you would have to have taken the courses in ATRRS through either the correspondence course or in person (either being managed by the FEMA EMI).

You should be able to get a copy of your training records from https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/public/faq/Training-VMET
