I am a Chaplain Candidate in the process of trying transferring to the Reserves from the National Guard. My DD Form 368 did not get signed in time for the October board and the next board isn't until February. I was told that a lateral transfer to the Reserves might be possible by a Chaplain friend of mine, but my recruiter said that it wasn't. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if a lateral transfer to the Reserves is possible from the National Guard for Chaplain Candidate. The reason for transfer is I am moving out of state, a couple states away, for work and school. I have also heard it is easier to transfer to the active component from the Reserves. Thank you in advance for any information.

1LT (Join to see) talk to a different recruiter, maybe even with your endorser present.

Short of getting in a conversation with ascensions, who will refer you to a recruiter, cross compo transfers are at the needs of the compo. I wouldn't say it is easier to go from Reserves or NG to AD, just different processes. I have had candidates (mainly aviation, but a handful of chaplain candidates) go from both 2 and 3 in reletivly easy manner provided idea they followed the process.

Your endorser or Chief of the Chaplain Recruiting Branch, will be better positioned to inform you of what an individual component needs are for the branch and can assist in the transfer on your behalf. Keep in mind, they don't have to, they usually leave ascensions up to the recruiters, but an endorser can wedge into the process presuming you have favorable board results.

CSM William Everroad - Sounds like a plan!! If you're thin skinned you'll be insulted. If you're a not snow flake you’ll have trouble finding them...

LTC Joe Anderson - UCMJ- There have been some cases where a Title 32 soldiers was charge under the State CMJ, every one that I've seen has been a copy of the UCMJ. The one that comes to mind was a sexual assault during an AT period. If I'm not slammed today, I'll try and link that one.
Cursing- I try not to on the net. I'm an old timer that grew up on the internet during the bad old days when Social Media was the Newsgroups. There were no safe spaces and it was the wild west. I kind of miss it.
The Commandant of OCS when I went through didn't allow the cadre or candidates to curse. That did not detract from his ability to chew a candidate a new one. I witnessed him dressing down one of the guys in my section that was frankly a work of art, not one curse word. I'll admit that I tried to imitate his style of "correction" when I commissioned. Never go to the point of not cursing totally.
Approval- I will point out that the reg's I pasted was NGB 600-200. We both know that the guy with the most stars makes the rules, but NGB reg's have never required the TAG to sign. I guess you could argue with some accuracy that the Land Commander or Separate Brigade Commander would automatically have the TAG's approval.

I have never blocked anyone for having a different opinion. I have blocked a couple that spam the site, which seems to be largely restricted to the anti Trump crowd. If I get 10+anti trump memes a day from a member, they go on my list.

CPT Lawrence Cable - I never block anybody. I just ignore them even if they're spamming, curse... Poeple have blocked me, which I find comical, that they are so thinned skinned, or wusses. Makes me wonder how they ever served. One, PV2 Larry Sellnow saw that I was neutral about Trump in regards to COVID. I didn't find him the best president or the worst/"Evil Orange Man" either. He didn't agree with my assessment and chimed in, even though, I hadn't talked to him before. He posted; "Why don't you go and kiss Trump's and keep sucking his, well you know, like the rest of you MAGA; something I don't remember." When I went to respond and advised him I'm an Independents... He had already blocked. It was rather funny and extremely cowardly too. Some people online like take a cheap shot and block and run. Not nowing how easy they are to find in the real world. ESPECIALLY if the have a social media presence. I had blocked one person once out of spite. CpT Perkins if I remember correctly. But, I unblock him. I now refuse to block anybody. I figure if I'm not able, or thick skin enough to take criticism or people's harassment. Then, I shouldn't be on here in the first place. They do have the right to think and say what they like. As, I have the right to think they're morons. Which I have no problem expressing. ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿'̿'\̵͇̿̿\з= ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) =ε/̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿

Yeah, I've seen a few guys get dinged up while under a title 32. Once back in the 80s when I was Infantry. I saw two guys get run out while on Title 32, because, they were caught fooling around in their Fox Hole. As you remember back then Title 10 nor Title 32 allowed that. But I also saw a Lieutenant fail out of engineer basic. His State recalled him to Title 32 and recycled him back. While everybody else on Title 10 who failed were processed out of the army (We lost some between 15 and 20 people. DEMO got most of them (this was in 92)). While then in Bosnia in 96; I saw the MP Commander get busted for inappropriate behaviors and illegal activity. The Army held him on Title 10 till his MOB orders ran out. Which was as long as they could. But, when his orders ran out, NY recalled him under Title 32. Due to his State's recall he managed to avoid UCMJ. As far as I know the state never followed up. Yes Title 32 personnel do face UCMJ. However, more often than not Guardsman escaped UCMJ because orders run out, recall... But, that's not even my main point.

My point being, Reservist being Title 10 don't have the luxury of having the state recall them, or their orders running out to protect them from UCMJ. If Reservist come up on UCMJ charges they're going to have to face them. No matter what. Yes, I understand your point that the state will punish Guardsman at times, or allow Title 10 UCMJ to punish them. However those cases a few and reserved for serious offenses. Not the minor offenses a regular Reservist will get punished for. I don't know how many time I seen Guardsman fail the urinalysis and not get punished. While Reservist get punished every single time they fail urinalysis (I must say in recent years the Guard has gotten better about punishing people who test hot. But it's still not 100%).

You have to remember NGB Regulations apply to Title 10. Because everybody at NGB is Titled 10 not 32. NGB has NO Command Authority over the States. So those Regs do not apply to the State. States comply with NGB'S wishes due to the purse strings. It's an interesting dance to watch in person. Thus the need for a TAG Release NGB MUST play ball with the States or they'll have personnel shortages. You are correct, for the most part, and in probably every state, or most states. The Land or Air Commanders are probably granted TAG'S Signature Authority. It's was that in MO. But, they do not have it automatically. Both Air and Ground fall under TAG regardless of which services GO is occupying the position (Air Force or Army). But that's another/different big political discussion too.

LTC Joe Anderson - Just a single response to about Title 32 and UCMJ. Unless it involved strictly military laws, Insubordination, etc., at State level, we would just kick the charges over to the locals and just charge it under normal State Law. Technically, a State Code of Military Justice is state law that the state and local LEO's are authorized to enforce, I haven't seen them used during my association with the Guard.
