This picture was posted on Habor Beach Lighthouse Preservation Society's Facebook page seeking information. The picture was taken of the underside of the upper deck of the lighthouse at night. It has strange blue and tan vertical lines projected onto the white paint. Is this a phenomenon caused by the lighthouse lens? (It currently has a VRB-25 acrylic lens that replaced a 4th order Fresnel.) The camera did not cause the effect. Can any former or current ATON types explain this?

It is very interesting. I spent three summers at the Harbor Beach Coast Guard station (It's a seasonal station) and a lot of time out on the lighthouse. I never saw this phenomenon though. My guess is that is caused by the lens reflecting the colors. Maybe there is something hanging down in front of the lens and acting like a sun catcher.
