Hello! I recently got out of active duty and now I’m in the reserves as an MP. My spouse who is active duty, got orders to Hawaii. Is there any way I would be able to transfer to Hawaii? And would anyone know if there are MP slots open anywhere over there. I’m looking for answers but can’t seem to find anything, I’m just trying to keep our family together and not have to travel back to the states every month.

In the spirit of "Teach a man to fish..." here's how you can look up the USAR positions.
● Go to https://www.hrcapps.army.mil/portal/ and login (using your DS Login since you don't have a CAC anymore)
● Select 'tools'
● In the center box, select 'Position Map (Vacancy Search)'
● Search to your heart's desire

SGT (Join to see) - When you say, "not sure where it leads to", are you referring to the physical address of where it is located? If not, please explain.

Regarding "able to find work there" - you mean an ADOS or other full-time position or still as an M-Day Soldier?

So it says that this unit is in HI and has 6 sports open but I was told by career counselor that it’s a unit in the states. And I was wondering if I could work with another reserve unit in Hawaii if it’s not an an actual MP unit. I have heard of “RST” but not sure what that is either.

SGT (Join to see) - I would contact the unit directly and confirm. The official address of all those vacancies in on Ft. Shafter.

Also, don't forget to check the HIARNG* to see if they have openings. Transferring between components is pretty easy if you're moving.

SGT (Join to see) - If you can access FMS web*, you can do a lookup on the UIC and get the specific information about the unit.

The career counselor could be right about it not being on Hawaii. Looking at the 9th Mission Support Command's website*, they do list a subordinate MP unit, but shows it's location on Guam. Again, contact the unit for a definitive answer.

Finally, you can contact HRC about the Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) program*. There might be some Drilling IMA (DIMA) positions available at some of the Hawaii units. Many Active Component units are multi-compo and have embedded IMA positions within their manning document.

If you're not familiar with what it is, an IMA is basically a USAR Soldier that is assigned to an Active Duty unit and managed through that unit. You still do the same 'one weekend a month .. two weeks AT' type arrangement, but each unit runs the IMA program a bit differently (I've seen some where do quarterly drills with three months scrunched today ... others where some drill on the first weekend, some on the second weekend .. etc.)
