So, that's one thing I'm curious about. I'm currently 26 years old, I stepped away from Enlistment for awhile for several months. Several months back I did want to enlist, but for the wrong reasons. Over the last several months I re-evaluated my mindset and still want to enlist, but for the right reasons this time.

I have wondered that though, when U.S. Navy Seal tryout requirements say that tryout candidates need to be 28 years old or younger does that mean I need to be 28 years old upon trying out or 28 years old or younger prior to graduation of U.S. Navy Seal Training graduation??

I hope I can find the right answer. I know I hope to be able to complete my dream of becoming a U.S. Navy Seal. That's a once in a lifetime experience that I'd love to be a part of.

I hope I have what it takes. Several months back I didn't have the right mindset, but I do now, I still want to focus on becoming a U.S. Navy Seal tryouts, after basic training of course.

A recruiter will have the most current, accurate information. Start there.

I am not sure what research you have conducted. Military basic straight to Navy Seal isn't going to happen. There are foundational requirments that provide the platform for an individual to be prepared to perform in any special ops role.

See a recruiter, and get selected for service and see where this goes. I assure you that every young man watching TV shows and movies at one time wanted to be a Seal.

You never know you may be the first.

The Navy does have a Special Operations Contract just like the Army and they start that pipeline during DEP and continues through Recruit Training. What they do between RTC and Selection I don't know.

CPT Lawrence Cable You are correct, https://www.sealswcc.com/apply/civilian-seal-swcc-application-steps.html

Corey Eugene Anderson-Wilcoxon ***see a navy Recruiter***,
but prepare thyself:
1. You must score at least one of the following on the ASVAB:
GS + MC + EI = a minimum score of 170 (GS and EI are waiverable up to three points each, MC is not waiverable)
VE + MK + MC + CS = a minimum score of 220 (VE, MK and CS are waiverable up to three points each, MC is not waiverable)
VE + AR = a minimum score of 110 (VE and AR are waiverable up to three points each) + MC = a minimum score of 50 (not waiverable)

2. At least: Swim 500 yards in 12:30, 50 Pushups, 50 Sit-ups, 10 Pull-ups, Run 1.5 miles in 10:30
2a. To be competitive: Swim 500 yards in 9:30, 75 Pushups, 75 Sit-ups, 15 Pull-ups, Run 1.5 miles in 9:30

CSM William Everroad - My son had mentioned that the SEAL/SWCC recruits actually had their own division at RTC. I have now told you everything I know about it.

It is my impression becoming any sort of Special Forces is like the pathway in life to becoming an Astronaut. It's not the first thing one applies for without having established an impressive history of skills and achievements to even be allowed to submit an application.

That said, at 26, one still has ample opportunity to do cool things in life that might not be door kicking Navy Seal stuff.

A pathway to Admiral has not been regulatorily closed.

You mention only a few months ago you didn't have the mindset to be a SEAL and now you do.

I caution you, it is the sole job of the SEAL instructors to get you back to that old mind set and ring that bell.

I had the wrong mindset ror it, such as I wanted to be king badass or something like that and that ain't what I should be doing for trying to be a navy seal. I shouldn't try to do it foe the sole purpose of being king badass.

If I do it now, I'd do it for such things as opportunities that I don't want to miss on, having the courage and dedication to try to make this world a better place by being part of a team who takes out some of the worst people on the face of the planet, etc

The Army has an 18X enlistment that guarantees a shot at selection also. The only difference is that you do Infantry OSUT and Airborne before you hit pre-selection. I went though OSUT with a couple of these guys, not real history of accomplishments, Bob was a high school wrestler and maybe 5'4"and 140 lbs. They were all in good shape, but we all were by the end of OSUT. Now the failure rate of the 18X students is pretty high and I know some career counselors that says it's one of the best recruiting tools for the Infantry the Army has (You have to be MOS qualified to apply for Selection and the 18X MOS qualify as 11B as part of the pipeline.)
