With the ever increasing prices of "Bundled" ISP services, have you decided to cut the chord? I just did. Save more then 150 bucks a month.
-2 Roku 3s w/netflix
-1 media server running PLEX
-purchased my own DOCSIS 3 modem
-New wireless router.
-Miscellaneous wires and connectors.
-AT&T femto Cell.

No more lan line, no more cable tv.

Im interested in hearing what you have done to cut the chord.

Faster the net, better off you are. Then again, we could just go out to the garage and make something, or stand in the woods and shoot a deer!!!

Happy holidays! Thanks for the response.

I have a fast enough connection to stream Netflix, so am happy, glad to be done with cable and satellite.

I stopped all cable, etc. I strictly use my Roku now. Unfortunately, where I live there is not quality internet service. I have two options, one is DSL the other is Hughes NET, neither offer speeds above 5mbps.

I do have fantastic 4GLTE service on both ATT and Verizon at my house....seriously considering moving to a MiFi setup, but the data packages are so expensive.

I would have a hard time with 5Mb internet. I currently have 120+ on a good day.

I'm very rural (The Netherworld). So I have the best internet I can at a whopping 5 (never gets there) with a dish looking at a mountain. I've been using Roku, Chromecast, and a BD player. However, I can't get the soccer games I want. Hulu works OK for some series stuff but I rarely watch any series past the second season as they go to crap. So if I want TV, it will have to be Dish or Direct. All satellite internet has a data cap so that's not an option either. However, if you're in a location where you can get high speed internet, check it out. Go for a Vonage box for the phone and you won't look back. There isn't a good priced global cell plan that can beat it.
