I can only speak for the 68series, but if I combine the weeks of WLC (I had the 30 day course, aka 4 weeks), ALC (4 weeks including MOS specific 3rd phase) and SLC (4 weeks). This adds up to 12 weeks, aka 3 months of institutional education focused on my development that spans over approximately 7-14 years (it depends on how quickly you move up in rank). Looking at the number of regulations, doctrine and technical information, it does make me wonder if the "bang" is worth the buck.

I feel it only dipped my toes in the water. Didn't go as in depth as it should have and seemed like more of a check-the-block course. (WLC) I'm still to this day learning things and trial by error and I'm told "You learned this in WLC".

To me, this is a yes and no kind of answer. Certainly, it helps teach the basics that one needs to know. After that, then it all comes down to time, exposure, and experience.
