To be clear on the point you are at- When you said "I commissioned in the AMEDD", did you mean you have seen the results from the AMEDD direct commissioning board where you were selected or are you stating that you have seen/been told your commissioning scroll has been signed?

The reason I ask is it determines how long of a waiting game you have.

It can take months between when the board approves your DC packet and when your commissioning is approved by leadership (average probably is about six weeks though). After your scoll comes back, then it's back in the hands of the recruiter to finish your process and get you assigned to a unit.

For those USAR Soldiers that aren't projected for a unit assignment already, HRC may handle scheduling you for the three week Direct Commission Course* and phase II of BOLC (you do phase I online .. once you get a CAC) as you would be in the IRR 'pending assignment'.

However, most will be assigned to a unit first ('which unit' is dealers choice unless you've been working with a unit already and they have a slot for you) and then get scheduled by them for DCC/BOLC phase II.

* DCC - If you haven't had any prior military experience (or don't meet the eligibility for constructive credit/waiver) , then you'll attend the 3-week Direct Commission Course prior to going to BOLC.

Thank you for your elaborate explanation.

I was told by my recruiter that I was selected and I should come in and sign contract and commissioning documents.

I completed that process: signing contract and commissioning. He didn’t mention anything about scroll.

He just said - I will receive further instructions and likely between 2 weeks.

I opt for the Reserve but I was never told what unit I am going to. So, my only contact is the recruiter and he is limited in his word/instructions/information.

I’m prior enlisted.

What is a scroll and how does it look like? Any process of getting a scroll?

CPT (Join to see) - Congrats! You're officially part of the officer corps now. May the bureaucracy have mercy on your soul. ☺

I wouldn't worry about the scroll - you're past that point. The "scroll" is the list of individuals that have been nominated for commissioning or promotion which is sent to the approving authority for the particular action (Military Service, OSD or the President/Congress).

It sounds like you're just waiting to be assigned to a unit. For that, they have to find a unit within commuting distance, appropriate AOC, match grade, etc (AR 140-10*, Para 2-13). Since you're not branch qualified (you're a warm body who is a commissioned officer), they may be further limited on positions.

Regardless, you should hear something soon. If you want to see what's showing up in the system for vacancies, you can look at the HRC's Vacancy Map* (restrict it to "CPT" for Rank and "Army Nurse Corps" or specifically "66H" for the Branch).

AMEDD Orders? Are you referring to orders to attend BOLC?

Yes, to attend BOLC. More so, I am commissioned for the RESERVE. Will I start going to my unit, if yes, do I need an order for that also?

CPT (Join to see) - Orders for BOLC will come to you when the Army system finally gets a seat reserved for you. That could be a short time away or a good time away.....all depending on seat availability. You can certainly attend Battle Training Assembly with you assigned unit. There is nothing stating you can't attend BTA with your unit. You would be limited in what you can do until you finish BOLC (such as qualify on a weapon), but it would be best for you to start attending that way you can complete a lot of the needed paperwork. In fact, if you are on the Roster for a unit, then your Command is probably already tracking you to a certain extent. If they have not reached out to you yet, that is a little sad (IMHO), so by all means pay the unit a visit during the week if you have time available.

It took over a year between the time I commisioned and recieved orders for BOLC. You have to wait until there is a seat availabl.
You are welcome and encouraged to start attending battle assembly with your unit (as a reservist, there are no orders - you are already in the unit). This will provide you some memtorship and give you an idea of what to expect when you complete BOLC.

I was not told which unit I belong to and I do not have a CAC.
I reach out to the CAC office but they said my old rank is still reflected in the system and I should wait.
I am prior enlisted.
