Why work with Aviation Support?
Have you looked through your NCOPD Guide?

I still have aspirations to become a pilot and I figured that a little time working with the aviation field will give me insight and connections to pursue that career field

The above guide mentioned by SGM Quick is a valuable guide for NCOs to understand their career paths. It provides individuals the opportunity to understand and learn their career paths within the Transportation/Logistics world.

That's kind of a hard one depending on which type of Aviation you're trying to work for I suppose. Our Aviation units aren't typically authorized an 88M. Perhaps with a Transportation unit that deliveres Aviation fuel, but not directly assigned to the organization. If you really want to work in our field, I suggest you change your MOS perhaps and come over into the Aviation field. That would definitely get you into an Aviation unit!

I recommend that you follow your NCOPD Guide to ensure you have hit all of your career milestones. This will be important when you get your first look for Sergeant First Class. I knew many NCO's that tried to get into units to hide out because they were laid back. You want the jobs that nobody else wants, the jobs that require you to lead, the jobs that require you to be out front with Soldiers. I'm not sure where being in an aviation support unit as an 88M20 is a ticket puncher. I also recommend visiting the Education Center at Fort Hood and furthering your education if you dont have a degree.
