There are a number of options to include One Source, the Chaplains, Give an Hour and Easterseals. I've referred people to all of those with good results.

Thank you for the response. Are you saying that your positive experience is in the area of referrals? Is there any other positive experience that you have?

Thank you for asking the clarifying question. I went through Military One Source seeking help and wondered the same thing when finding out what kind of mental health care was available. Here is what I found. Medical mental health counseling focuses on biological and medical interventions, while non-medical counseling emphasizes psychological and social approaches. Both play crucial, complementary roles in mental health care.

What specific help are you looking for? I've had great success both routes. I've been seeing a therapist off and on again for a few years, and I can't recommend it enough. If you go on Psychology Today, you can filter therapists by insurance, location, specialty, etc. I want to say there are even therapy groups that you can join if you're not really comfortable with individual therapy.

Having support and feeling connections with others is one thing, but truly feeling understood and learning how to fix (or even just live with) those broken parts inside of us is a whole different level of support. Can't recommend therapy enough.

SSgt Kali Petry - Thank you for your follow up question. I was looking to learn from the community at large what are some of the positive experiences. One of my goals is to learn what is working. What were some of the obstacles you overcame to get started?

This is a great question. Can you elaborate a little on what you mean regarding "non-medical mental health support?"
