I have heard many opinions and details of being an AD AE Med Tech. Unfortunately, none of the sources had any actual experience with AE. Can someone with knowledge on the subject tell me the details regarding- AD vs ANG techs, typical operations, and ops tempo (is this a a good career field for a dedicated student?).

Thank you for reading, and I truly appreciate your help :)

I have been flying the past 18 years. Reserve and Guard do 85% of the AE missions worldwide. The ops tempo can be high however things will be changing in the near future with the pull out of Afghanistan. If you are going active duty to Reserve or Guard, do your homework there are some little differences between the two. Also my advice is this. If you want to go off AD and go into Reserve/Guard, especially AE, pick a career field in the medical field. I have been a paramedic the past 15 years and the skill sets and experience that I bring back to the unit is huge. It benefits the mission and patient care. I see some 4NO's that don't work in the medical field on the civilian side struggle during task training and medical emergencies. Again as said before AE is high tempo and demands a lot of work. Good luck! Hope to see you on a flight line soon.

Thank you for the response MSgt! There is currently an AD AE job available and I am deciding whether I want to volunteer for that, or go the ANG/ARC route.

And if I choose the latter, I will definitely stay in the medical field.  There is nothing else I'd rather do!

SrA, we have hundreds of 4N0X1 on RallyPoint, and several AE Med Techs in specific. You may want to connect directly with them and get some of their feedback.<div><br></div><div>Below is a list of people specifically in the AET position, both currently and formerly (just click on the "Current" or "Previous" tabs at the top to see each list). I hope this help!<br><div><br></div><div>https://www.rallypoint.com/position/242&nbsp;<br><div><br></div><div><br></div></div></div><div class="pta-link-card"><div class="pta-link-card-picture"><img src="https://www.rallypoint.com/assets/RallyPoint-logo-03989f248440c5e391e15a46e4db94fa.png"></div><div class="pta-link-card-content"><div class="pta-link-card-title"><a target="_blank" href="https://www.rallypoint.com/position/242">Aeromedical Evacuation Technician | RallyPoint</a></div><div class="pta-link-card-description">Members of Aeromedical Evacuation Technician</div></div><div style="clear:both"></div><div class="pta-box-hide"><i class="icon-remove"></i></div></div>

Sandy, that's not really the case. If I put "<span style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-size: 12px;">Aeromedical Evacuation Technician" into LinkedIn, I get a mixed bag of results, none of which are current AET (at least those are the results I get).</span><div><span style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-size: 12px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-size: 12px;">If you want to find something on RallyPoint, simply search for what you want in the search bar in the top right. We try to make it easy. If you search for "</span><span style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-size: 12px;">Aeromedical Evacuation Technician" on RP, you actually get those holding the position both in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve. If one wants to see more people like that, simply click on the specialty or the position, to see all members sharing that experience.</span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-size: 12px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="color: rgb(77, 77, 77); font-size: 12px;">As a valued and experienced member of RallyPoint, I hope you will be able to point people towards this information in the future.</span></div>

Hi Yinon,

I just tried the search again at RP. It must have been late and I must have mistyped Aeromedical (as I just did again three times in a row).

When I just now did the search on RP many results appeared so your system works quite well.

One possibility, maybe incorporating SOUNDEX or spelling correction specifically tailored to search targets on RP may be helpful.

I apologize for my confusion and maybe misleading others last night.

Warmest Regards, Sandy
