High school stabilization

Has anyone ever delt with this, and if so, what was the outcome?  Did your branch seem to want to help or did they tell you to pound sand?  I know what the regulation says as I've used it to request stabilization for my son.

My boss just did this. 4187 and a signature and it was done. He had stabilization code in about three weeks

I am assuming he wasn't on orders already?

He was not, his window was about to open and he didn't want to get moved.
