How are you building trust within your organization? What have you done to strengthen trust today?

Lessons in Trust from a Navy SEAL
by Rob Roy, author of The Navy SEAL Art of War

In 2012, the magazine Fast Company reported that companies with high levels of trust enjoy higher stock prices, improved profits, and better retention of key employees. Sounds like a SEAL team to me.

An easy way to build trust within an organization is by communication. By keeping in touch and letting those around you know what is going on both professionally and personally is a sure fire way to build trust in any organization because then people aren't wondering what you are doing, they know what you are doing. They know that you are able to complete the task(s) that they ask of you and that you are giving your time to them at the level they think you are. Great article too.

As a leader, get out of the office and get your hands dirty with your Soldiers. As staff, collaborate with other staff sections, and always be available to help, especially when you don't have too. Bottom line, be a team player, and others will follow suite.

Thanks for sharing COL Mikel J. Burroughs.

We use a strategy much like this at my current employer. Whenever anything happens at the corporate level, our site lead communicates that to the rest of us employees. It makes me feel involved and like I matter. We are of course not involved in all decision making, but we are asked for inputs on a numerous amount of things.
