Absolutely. Leaders don't create followers. Leaders create other leaders! If you are willing to lead from the front, show you are willing to get dirty w/ the others, you will have more respect from your troops than if you simply demand it due to rank.

I take most leadership lessons with a grain of salt. I have seen leaders that talk an excellent game but they do not practice what they preach.
