I'm put on cq one day, then I have it with the same runner 4 days following, in AR 220-45 it states "Soldier on the DA Form 6 who has had the next longest break from performing duty assigned by the DA Form 6 will be detailed." Considering I know we have 2 other NCOs and handful of soldiers who will have it longer after the shift, wouldn't they be tracked next to fulfil that duty? Or is this completely commanders discretion?

It should follow the DA-6, but more info is needed. For all I know, you could be in a Rear-D type setting where there are only 10 of you, and maybe the next guy on the list had a medical appointment that day.

I understand that, and no we're not. I am starting to clear soon, it feels like they want to use me up prior to that, because I may have it a 3rd time the day before I start clearing. We have a total of 5 NCOs in my platoon, 2 of which are promotable so they're on the SD rotation.

The day before I was supposed to start clearing Schwetzingen, I wound up with staff duty. It happens.

1. CO's seldom if ever have a damn thing to do with DA6, that is the responsibility of the senior NCOIC (1SG). It sounds like the NCO rotation is ok- have you checked to see why it's the same runner? Be careful tho.

Well... really it is both.
The whole point of a DA 6 is to have it out there for all to see who's turn it is for duty and keep a rotating schedule. As a First Sergeant, I reserve the right to deviate and detail as I see fit. Usually the reason for this is because of what else is going on in the unit.
If asked *tactfully*, I would explain why an individual was passed over for duty per the schedule. I would also ensure that any person that was skipped for duty for whatever reason pulled the next shift.
