My mother's house has become unfit to live in and in need of extensive repairs. She has had to live in a motel because of this. She is disabled and lives only on SSI ($700/mon). That really only covers the room. I live too far away to be of much help physically except for a week or two long stay once a year. I am a 100% disabled vet with benefits from the VA. Is there a benefit I can apply for to help her?

I don't know about benefits but you could reach out to the local American Legion or VFW and they might be able to offer some help. It might not be financial assistance but they are always willing to help out with volunteers. If they don't help please let me know.

The newest issue we have now is vandals have begun breaking out all the windows. No help from the local police. I feel useless from where I am but cannot afford to travel across the country to help her. Is it possible to have her assign ownership to me and then I use VA loan or benefits to fix it? Would that require me to be living there?

Same as before Carrie. The American Legion Riders help with these things all the time.

I am not sure about a grant to help fix your mother's house. reach out to the VFW or similar organization. They may be able to help.
