AS2 here, I will have 8 years at my PRD. Before this time my CWAY application is will be put in. I have been thinking of transitioning to FTS and was just curious about some opinions and advice out there!

1. Why do you want to go FTS?
2. Have you looked at the community manager page for FTS and compared it to AC? Depending on rating health, there may not be any promotion opportunities, as FTS doesn't compete with AC for promotions.
My enlisted time was all FTS and there are great opportunities, especially if you want to get stationed in places not normally associated with the Navy. Ft. Worth, TX, New Orleans, and New Jersey are some places where reserve aviation is that AC is not.

Looking at both FTS and AC for your rate, I see no convert out for active and no convert in for FTS, but that can change monthly. Make sure you talk to your CCC!

I will be changing rates for sure, to what exactly but I’m okay with cross rating. Well I manly would like to stay land based as much as possible so that is the main reason. I have a family now and would like to be apart of their lives more. If the opportunity to convert to FTS isn’t an option I will be going into the reserves to finish my bachelors degree.

Full-Time-Support. Pretty much you work just like on active duty, but through only reserve components. From my understanding.

They support the reserves at NOSCs and they also fill positions that AC can’t fill when no one applies for that billet.
